Gender Identity Therapy in Cheshire, CT

Talking to Family and Friends About Your Transition

Coming out to family and friends can be challenging. Sometimes, family members think they want what is best for you, but they may not understand what transition is, and may have many questions and concerns. Generational or cultural differences can exacerbate concerns and conflicts. I have worked with parents, families, and partners who are struggling with a loved one’s transition. In therapy, we can talk about how to express your thoughts and feelings most effectively, how to work through questions and concerns, and provide resources for your loved one.

Common Questions

How Can Gender Identity Therapy Help?

You may be just starting to consider your gender identity or preparing for gender affirming procedures. Wherever you begin, it helps to have someone to talk to in a supportive environment. Therapy helps you process emotions and challenges, and supports the changes you need to live the life you want.

I have been a therapist for over 25 years and have intentionally worked with the transgender community for the past six. My clients appreciate working with someone who does not need to be educated and who can provide resources or documentation.
